How It Works

    The Season-Long Fantasy Golf Experience

Create or join a private league, draft PGA TOUR players, and compete all season long — from The Sentry to the last playoff putt.

    Overview

Welcome to Knockdown Fantasy — built for real fans of the PGA TOUR. Leagues are private and commissioner-led. Draft your squad, set your strategy, and chase the title with live, per-hole scoring all year.

    See It In Action

Watch a quick walkthrough of how Knockdown Fantasy works from draft day to the final putt.

    League Settings

Commissioners set the league format and roster rules before the season begins. These settings shape how many golfers you draft, how waivers work, and how playoffs are seeded.

    League Format

This is a season-long cumulative points league. Teams earn points each tournament, and points accumulate week to week across the season. The standings determine playoff qualification.

Head-to-head play is not supported yet.

    Number of Teams

The number of members in the league. This sets how many managers draft and compete for the season.

Example: 10 teams means 10 managers drafting and scoring points all year.

    Roster Size

The total number of golfers each team drafts for the season.

Larger rosters increase depth and strategy across long PGA TOUR schedules.

    Bench

Bench golfers do not score points during live tournaments.

You can swap active and bench players week to week to optimize your lineup.

Example: A roster size of 5 with 1 bench means 4 starters score each tournament.

    FAAB

Free Agent Acquisition Budget. Each team uses this budget to bid on waiver pickups during the season.

Higher bids win the player when waivers clear.

    Starting FAAB

The amount of FAAB each team starts the season with.

This is the total budget each manager can spend across the full season. FAAB does not replenish — once you run out, you have no more bidding power.

You can still place a bid of $0.

    Draft Settings

The commissioner sets the draft date, time, and pick timer.

These settings define when the league drafts and how quickly each pick must be made.

    Qualifiers

The number of teams that advance to the playoffs.

Common formats include 4, 6, or 8 playoff teams.

    Bonus Max

The maximum number of bonus points awarded to the #1 seed entering the playoffs.

Higher bonus caps increase the top seed advantage.

    Curve

Controls how steep the playoff bonus advantage drops from the #1 seed to lower seeds.

A steeper curve widens the gap between top seeds and the rest of the field.

    1. Join or Create a League

Knockdown leagues are private and commissioner-led — there are no public lobbies or random matchups.

    Join a League

Accept an invite from your commissioner and you’re in.

    Create a League

Be the commissioner, set rules, and invite your friends.

    Free Leagues

Draft-only format. Once the season starts, rosters are locked for the year — no waivers, trades, or add/drops.

    Gold Leagues

Full fantasy experience with FAAB waivers, trades, chat, DMs, and live roster management.

The commissioner selects the draft date, sets the playoff cutoff, and configures the playoff “curve” before the season begins.

    2. Draft Your PGA TOUR Roster

Every league starts with a snake draft — a fair, turn-based format that rewards preparation and strategy.

In a snake draft, the pick order reverses each round (1–10, then 10–1), so every team gets a balanced mix of early and late picks.

Your commissioner also chooses roster size and how many bench spots are available, so know your roster construction before the clock starts.

    • Live in-app draft room with timers and instant syncing
    • Player stats and rankings visible while you pick
    • Auto-pick protection if a manager misses their turn

After your draft, your season begins with The Sentry (or the next PGA TOUR event). From that tournament forward, every hole your golfers play earns or loses you points.

The roster you draft is the start of your season — you can add or drop players throughout the year, but there is no redraft at any point.

    3. Managing Your Team (Gold Leagues Only)

    FAAB Waivers

Pending bids on free agents clear weekly on Wednesdays at 3:00 AM Eastern. You begin the season with $100 FAAB, and that bankroll is everything you wager on waivers. Players lock during tournaments, so you must place a bid on anyone you want and the highest bidder wins the player when waivers clear. Only bids you win subtract from your FAAB balance; wagers lost on other players are returned immediately so you can keep bidding.

    Trades

Negotiate player swaps to shape your roster.

    Add/Drops

Manage your lineup week-to-week throughout the season. Players remain locked during tournaments, so you must place a bid to claim them; once waivers clear and until your roster locks (15 minutes before the first round tee time) you can instantly add or drop players to react to the weekend field.

    Chat & DMs

Talk strategy, banter with your league, and coordinate trades.

Free Leagues do not include these features — teams remain exactly as drafted for the entire season.

    FAAB Waivers Explained

FAAB (Free Agent Acquisition Budget) is how teams claim players on waivers in Knockdown Fantasy. Every team starts with a set budget and uses it to place blind bids on available golfers. You can only bid on free agents(players not currently on another roster), and no other team can see your bid amount.

    How bidding works

    • Submit a bid amount for any golfer on waivers.
    • Waivers process on the league’s scheduled clear time (default: Wednesdays at 3:00 AM Eastern).
    • If you win, your bid amount is deducted from your FAAB balance.
    • Only winning bids deduct FAAB. Losing bids do not cost anything.

    How a winner is chosen

    • Highest bid wins the player.
    • If bids are tied, the earliest bid placed wins.
    • Bids are processed player-by-player at the waiver clear time.

    When bids are rejected

    • Insufficient FAAB balance to cover your bid.
    • Your roster is full and you did not specify a valid drop.
    • Your drop player is no longer on your roster when waivers process.
    • Another team already won the player you bid on.
    • The player is already owned at processing time.

    Multi-bid tips

You can place multiple bids in the same waiver run. If you use the same drop player across multiple bids, only the first successful claim can use that drop. Any later bid that tries to drop the same golfer will be rejected because that player is no longer on your roster.

    4. Scoring System

Knockdown uses DraftKings per-hole scoring plus optional bonus scoring (cut and finish bonuses) when enabled by your league commissioner.

    Hole ResultPoints
    Double Eagle (Albatross)+13
    Eagle+8
    Birdie+3
    Par+0.5
    Bogey−0.5
    Double Bogey or Worse−1

Every tournament adds to your season total. League standings are based on cumulative points across all PGA TOUR events.

    Bonus scoring (optional)

Commissioners can enable bonus scoring. When enabled, two extra point types apply on top of per-hole scoring: a cut bonus and afinish bonus.

    Cut bonus

Your player earns a cut bonus once the cut is confirmed. If a player makes the cut and then finishes MDF (Made Cut, Did Not Finish), the cut bonus still applies. Withdrawals or disqualifications do not receive the cut bonus.

Default: +5 points for making the cut (league commissioners can override this value).

    Finish bonus

Finish bonuses are awarded after the final tournament leaderboard is official. Each position maps to a bonus point value (e.g., 1st = +30, 2nd = +20).

    • Ties are averaged: If two players tie for 3rd, the points for positions 3 and 4 are summed and averaged across the tied players (e.g., (18 + 16) ÷ 2 = 17).
    • Whole-number rounding: Any tie average is rounded to the nearest whole number.
    • 50th-place boundary: If a tie group crosses the 50th-place cutoff, everyone in that tie group receives the 41–50 bonus (e.g., a 9-player tie for 47th all get +1). Only this boundary exception extends bonus points beyond 50th.

Commissioners can customize the finish bonus table in league settings.

    Tournament eligibility

Knockdown Fantasy only considers PGA TOUR stroke play events for scoring. Match play, team events, and other non-stroke formats are excluded. On weeks where multiple PGA TOUR tournaments occur, signature events are prioritized for scoring and inclusion in the season.

2026 season: included vs excluded (examples)

    Included (preferred)
    • Arnold Palmer Invitational pres. by Mastercard
    • Truist Championship
    • Genesis Scottish Open
    • The Open
    Excluded (examples)
    • Puerto Rico Open
    • ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic
    • ISCO Championship
    • Corales Puntacana Championship

Note: This is not an exhaustive list. The league commissioner and Knockdown Fantasy determine final inclusion rules each season.

    5. Playoffs

By default, the Playoffs begin three weeks before the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The commissioner can change the playoff start date.

    Setup

    • Standings based on total season points
    • Commissioner chooses how many teams qualify (Top 4/6/8)
    • All playoff teams reset to 0 points
    • Higher seeds receive bonus starting points via a 100-point curve

    100-Point Curve (Example)

    SeedStarting Points
    #1100
    #280
    #360
    #440
    #5–80

During playoffs, scoring remains the same per-hole DraftKings system. Highest playoff total wins the league.
